Actions
Actions are things you'll commit to and do throughout the Ecochallenge — steps you'll take towards a more sustainable world. For example, you might choose to use your reusable water bottle every day, participate in a local cleanup effort, or advocate for forest protection policies.
Managing Actions
You can click "MANAGE ACTIONS" in the sidebar to add actions, or remove actions you've already selected. Actions are represented as cards within an action category:
Each action card follows this format:
- Name: The name of the action. For example, "Reduce Vehicle Idling."
- Description: A short summary of what you'll be doing for that action. For example, "I will turn off my engine while waiting in my car."
- Resource Links: Click the
LEARN MORE
button for resources to help you learn and complete the action. - "SELECT" button: Click
SELECT
to add this action to your Dashboard. Once you've selected this action, the button will change to saySELECTED
. - Frequency: An action is either daily or one-time. Daily actions are actions you'll do every day (or very frequently), while you will complete one-time actions only once. Please note that you don't always have to complete a daily action every day, but we recommend that you complete daily actions multiple times throughout the Ecochallenge.
- Difficulty Level: There are three types of difficulty levels: Beginner, Intermediate, or Advanced difficulty. Actions are categorized according to time, cost, and effort level.
- "I already do this" or "I already did this": You can click here if this is an action that you already do (or have done), and it's not an action that you want to track throughout the Ecochallenge. This should be a previous activity that you have completed in the past, or a habit that you've already successfully created and integrated into your life. The Ecochallenge is an opportunity for you to take on new actions, try new things, and create new behaviors!
Actions on your Dashboard
After you've selected actions, those actions will now appear as cards on your Dashboard, grouped into daily actions and one-time actions:
- Frequency: On your Dashboard, the header above the action cards will indicate the action frequency for that group of cards (daily actions or one-time actions).
- Category: Actions are organized into different categories (which you can always revisit when you manage actions). For example, the action "Explore the Feed" is from the category "Community and Connection."
- Name: The name of the action. For example, "Explore the Feed."
- Description: A short summary of what you'll be doing for that action. For example, "I will spend 10 minutes reading the Ecochallenge feed."
- Resource Links: Click the

button for resources to help you learn and complete the action. - "CHECK IN": Click the
CHECK IN
button to mark your action complete. (If your Ecochallenge hasn't begun yet, you'll see a reminder of when the event begins!) - Difficulty Level: There are three types of difficulty levels: Beginner, Intermediate, or Advanced difficulty. Actions are categorized according to time, cost, and effort level.
- Reflection Question: Depending on your event, actions may have a Reflection Question that you can answer to reflect on your experience and your learnings with the action.
